National Cheeseburger Day is celebrated annually on September 18th. It honors the classic American cheeseburger -- a juicy beef patty topped with melted cheese and all the fixings. The invention of the cheeseburger can be traced back to 1924, when 16-year-old Lionel Sternberger served up his creation at his father's sandwich shop in Pasadena, California.
